Zumba – the fun way to work out

Zumba is a Latin-inspired dance-fitness program that has become increasingly popular in the last couple of years due to the fact that Zumba is not your typical work out but rather an hour of dancing and having fun. As the music and dances might be different every time to keep it interesting, the choreography is very repetitive and easy to pick up.

The Coors Fitness Center at DU offers Zumba group fitness classes twice a week. Tuesdays and Wednesdays for an hour at a time, Zumba instructor Taryn lets DU students shake their hips, sweat and relieving stress.

With the photos for my slideshow I tried to show the things that Zumba is all about: the choreographies, dancing, having fun. I tried to combine shots of individual people with shots of the whole class and show certain shots in a fast pace so that one can see the motion and it kind of looks like a flip-book.

I included my interviews with two people, Taryn, the instructor and Gracie, a DU student who became interested in Zumba at the beginning of this quarter. In between the interviews I decided to include atmosphere recordings of the Zumba class as my audio.

I really enjoyed this slideshow because I think it incorporated the music, photos and interview really well together. The pictures were one of my favorite things because there was a variety, and since they were action shots it made me feel like I was in the Zumba class too. I have only taken Zumba a few times, but never at DU and now I am really intrigued to try it. I like how you used the text for the instructor Taryn in the picture it looked really professional. Overall, this was a unique topic and you did a great job!
