DU Students Relish Opportunity to Learn a New Language at Home and Abroad

This slideshow captures DU students’ attitudes towards foreign language both before and after the study abroad experience. I hoped to express this idea through images of the Global Gala, students going through their daily routines, and pictures of resources available to DU students for language learning.

It was difficult to photograph images of language, as language is obviously an oratory experience, unless written down in text. Therefore, I shot photos that represented students’ time abroad and scenarios in which a student would use or learn a foreign language at DU.

I repurposed much of the text from the original Issue Story related to this slideshow, so there are many similarities. I believe I was able to express the same message of language acquisition that I initially wrote in a new format, this time through photographs.
