DU students escape to the mountains

Through this audio slideshow, I am trying to tell the story of DU kids escaping to the mountains on weekends. I am trying to explain that skiing and snowboarding is a big part of DU culture, and that the mountains are the reason many students choose to study at DU and stay in Colorado for college.

I wanted to explain that many people at DU ski and enjoy skiing. I also wanted to include information about how students feel about the snowfall from last year compared to the snowfall this year and if it was affecting how much they were skiing.

DU raises student awareness of body image issues

 

For this slideshow, I wanted to discuss the dangers of eating disorders and what DU is doing to combat them. Eating disorders can be a very sensitive topic, and through this slideshow I wanted to raise awareness, but also provide information about them to those who may not be well-informed. Body image can be a big stressor for college students.

Body image can be a big stressor for college students.

With the change of lifestyle and the dreaded “freshman 15,” dieting and exercise is common on college campuses.  But with the increase in those who foster a poor body image, the fad of being thin is heightened to a new extreme.

Although it starts mildly, a few extra minutes at the gym or counting calories, this can ultimately lead to disordered eating which in turn results in an incredibly hazardous illness: an eating disorder.

As this dangerous trend grows, the University of Denver has put forth an effort to keep its students informed and spread awareness regarding eating disorders.
