Elizabeth is from Vancouver, B.C, Canada. She is a senior at the University of Denver, majoring in Communication Studies, with a minor in Sociology. She has an interest in sports media. Elizabeth enjoys playing club field hockey at DU and she also loves to snowboard.

Founding Alpha Phi at DU

For my audio slide show I wanted to tell a story of what it is like to start a new sorority at a university. Alpha Phi’s founding members are graduating this year so I wanted to get an inside look of how they first started their chapter here on the University of Denver’s campus four years ago. I interviewed the former Alpha Phi President Brittany Willis to share her experiences from starting the chapter from the ground up.

The goal of these photos was to capture the University of Denver in a broad sense. I didn’t want to only focus on seniors planning to go to graduate school. Having different perspectives played an important factor in my story.

University of Denver seniors take advantage of their time left on campus.

University of Denver seniors are entering down unknown paths ahead. Some students seem to have it all figured out when it comes to what is next. However, others dread the constant “question” from relatives, friends and acquaintances about what they plan on doing after they take off their cap and gown.

Employment after graduation

The Career Center at the University of Denver offers an “At-graduation employment report” which displays the statistics for the undergraduates of Spring 2012. It showed that at the time of gradation:

42.6% of students have accepted employment
